Since 2003, BEST is organizing Engineering Competitions (ECs). The goal of an Engineering Competition is to develop students by bringing them together to solve practical tasks and apply the knowledge they gained at University.
Engineering Competition Project of BEST is named EBEC: European BEST Engineering Competition. EBEC is divided in 3 stages from local round to the European final where teams of 4 students compete in 2 categories. The first one, Team Design is related to building a device that will fulfill the requirements of the task. The other part, Case Study is related to solving business cases usually provided by companies. Recently, every year more than 5000 students from all over Europe competed in more than 80 local rounds of the European BEST Engineering Competition. The winners of local rounds participated in National or Regional finals and the 104 best ones gathered together in the EBEC Final. EBEC Finals are organizer during August and in 2009 and 2010 it was organized in Ghent and Cluj-Napoca respectively. EBEC Final 2011 is organized in Istanbul on 1-11th August 2011.
