By the ending of the summer course, between the dates 29th of June and 10th of July, a new record in BEST has been broken. The serie, starting with 2007 summer course, continued with Autumn07, Winter07, Spring08, and with 2008 summer course, BEST Istanbul was recorded in history as the LBG which organized most courses in a row.
Subject of the course, which organized as an engineering competition, was textile and fashion. Students from all over the Europe had a chance to show their talent and style. Participants, which also visited Efes Beer Factory and Ormo Textile Factory, enjoyed their weekend with swimming and having a boat trip.
BEST Istanbul is increasing both quality and quantity of events and becoming activer day by day in BEST.

The American society for Engineering Education
(ASEE) promotes the 6th annual ASEE Global Colloquium on Engineering
Education between 1st to 4th of October, in Istanbul.
Student organization of the Colloquium will be orginized by BEST Istanbul and
Bosphorus University – Engineering Society (ENSO). Topics as advancing global
engineering education research, enhancing global engineering innovation and entrepreneurship,
assuring engineering quality and enabling global mobility will be discussed in
the colloquium.

BEST Istanbul has sucsessfully completed the Summer Course (Petroleum, from one source to life)
which was between 1st and 14th of the July '07. 23 Students from 15
European countries - 23 different universities had the chance to know
Turkey, Turkish culture, and rich Turkish food.
During this two
weeks, participants have attended the lectures performed by teachers
from ITU in the mornings, and have seen the museums and historical -
traditional places of Istanbul in the afternoons. In this two weeks,
Participants have seen the Turkish life style, nightlife and friendship
in here, and also we all had 23 friends who always welcomes us in their
place all over the Europe.

The second part of our last cultural exchange, the Istanbul visit; has
completed between the 18th and 25th of the March 07 with 20 participants from
BEST Gothenburg and BEST Porto. As a CE programme requarement, the participants
had visits to historical beautiful places of Istanbul like Sultanahmet Mosque,
Yerebatan Sarnıcı, Mısır Çarşısı, Kapalı Çarşı, Ayasofya, Topkapı Palace,
Dolmabahçe Palace, Miniatürk and Koç museums. Besides the historical and
touristic places, the participants had chance to visit a turkish bath, smoked
waterpipe, and watched a bellydancer as a presentation of traditional Turkish
living.
In the discussion sessions, the students shared their ideas and thoughts about the education system in the Europe, and how to improve it as it is done at the first part of the cultural exchange. The outgoings of the organisation as staying, eating, logistics, social activities..etc. are paid by BEST Istanbul as a host. This was also our first organisation which we used European Union (Youth) funds, and also we serve our special thanks to municipality of Istanbul (IBB) because of their support and the delicious food in the municipality restaurants. BEST Istanbul is proud of presenting the BEST Turkish hospitality to the participants.

BEST Istanbul hosted the South East Regional Meeting 06 Istanbul between the 3rd -6th of November 2006. In the meeting, the local BEST groups existing in the South-East region talked about the topics which will be discussed in the Presidents Meeting 06 Ghent, and made decisions about the region. There were 72 students participated from Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia who are BEST members from South East local groups. Besides the discussions and trainings, we presented our traditions, foods and drinks to the participants in the Turkish Night.
In the meeting, which has done in ITU campuses, we showed the possibilities of our university and country, and also talked about the projects which could be done between the universities in the future. We also had trainings for the future events and knowledge transfer.
We believe that we served the Turkish hospitality and Istanbul's beautiful historical and cultural view in a BEST way...

During the first days of July, LBG Barcelona visited Istanbul as the second part of Cultural Exchange. We prepared ten unforgettable days for the members of LBG Barcelona and had a great time together.
